WHUN Showertub
Whun is a dual-function showerTub that seamlessly shifts between two distinct modes—bathtub and shower booth—catering to both relaxation and efficiency. Designed as part of a project to create products with two modes of function, Whun is an elegant solution for modern lifestyles, where personal care often requires a balance between moments of calm introspection and practical utility.

The project began with the challenge of designing a product that embodies two contrasting modes of use, meaning, and value. To accomplish this, I analyzed the differences between showering and bathing: showering represents efficiency, cleanliness, and societal preparation, while bathing symbolizes relaxation, joy, and personal reflection. Juxtaposing these qualities, I envisioned a single product capable of offering both experiences, ultimately leading to the design of Whun. Its form, inspired by the flowing silhouette of a whale, embodies fluidity and grace, serving as the perfect vessel for both functions.

ROUTINE
In its bathtub mode, Whun invites users to recline on a gently sloped ramp, providing a comfortable and restful experience. The tub fills with water, immersing the user in a soothing environment reminiscent of a lounging jacuzzi. This mode emphasizes mental well-being, offering a serene space to unwind and reconnect with oneself.
In shower mode, Whun transforms into a functional shower booth, designed for those seeking a quick and energizing cleanse. Standing upright under running water, users can efficiently prepare for the day ahead. This mode is tailored to practicality, allowing for a streamlined and invigorating start to the day.
Whun’s thoughtful design extends to its water delivery systems, enhancing the sensory experience in both modes. In bathtub mode, water flows gently from strategically placed holes in the tub’s body, while a groove pours water over a stepped section, creating the soothing sound of a fountain. In shower mode, water cascades from small holes positioned above the user’s head or from a movable shower faucet, ensuring flexibility and convenience.
